This course is part of the UBC Future Global Leaders on-campus program for high school students ages 15–18.
This course takes you on an interactive journey through the world of AI, focusing on ethical usage, global challenges, and innovative applications. Hands-on exercises in prompt engineering and AI-driven creative projects allow you to apply your learning in practical contexts. Learn to evaluate and use AI tools responsibly and creatively. No matter your technological abilities, join us and empower yourself with the knowledge and skills to excel in the world's fastest-growing technology.
By the end of this course, you will be able to:
- Identify the differences and connections between AI and Generative AI
- Develop skills in prompt engineering and engage in creative projects using AI tools
- Understand the ethical framework and risks of AI technology
- Discuss AI's impact across a wide range of industries, as well as environmental and sustainability issues
- Explore the future of AI and potential career paths
ROCHELLE GRAYSON, MBA, is an instructor for UBC Sauder Continuing Business Studies. She’s a digital strategy and monetization executive with 20 years of business, technology and education experience. Rochelle is the recipient of the Top Forty under 40 and Vancouver’s Top 10 Women in Technology awards, and was nominated for Canada’s Top 100 Most Powerful Women. She also received the 2015 UBC John K. Friesen Excellence in Teaching Award.

Course format
This course is held on the UBC Vancouver campus. You attend class in-person 9am–12pm, Monday through Friday. After lunch, you attend university preparation workshops and participate in group activities on campus from 1:30–3pm. You can also join the Virtual Student Lounge, hosted by our UBC Student Ambassadors. Meet other Future Global Leaders from across Canada and around the world.
