Advance your French language skills quickly in our immersive Summer Institutes

This year’s French Summer Institutes offer one, two or three-week options in online or in-person formats to suit your schedule and learning style. Experience immersive French learning in classes taught by our experienced, passionate instructors, with plenty of time left to enjoy the summer weather.

Choose from two language levels

Our French Summer Institutes are offered at two levels: Beginner 2 and Lower Intermediate and Intermediate and Advanced.  Using a short skills assessment, we’ll place you in a small group with other students and an instructor within your chosen level. If you’re not sure what level to register in, please contact us.

Immerse yourself for one, two or three weeks

Build your own program with our one, two and three-week Summer Institutes. Jumpstart your learning in a one-week program. Add a second or third week to see noticeable improvements in your French fluency.

Learn the language, live the culture, in-person or online

If you choose to study in-person, you’ll join your classmates at UBC Robson Square in downtown Vancouver. Focus on daily conversation practice, and take part in afternoon cultural explorations of French cuisine, film and art to connect your language skills with authentic Francophone experiences.

For the online option, learn in lively real-time virtual classes that blend instruction, feedback, small group and pair work in a positive, energizing atmosphere. On Tuesday and Thursday afternoons, enjoy cultural workshops, and connect with special guests from around the Francophone world who bring their unique cultures and perspectives to class.
