Opinion polling, also known as attitudinal survey research, is a powerful tool with applications for government policy, political and public awareness campaigns, branding and marketing, business strategy, and much more. Thanks to technology it’s easier than ever to conduct surveys, but faulty methodology can lead to erroneous results and misleading conclusions. Opinion polling requires specialized knowledge and skills to ensure it’s a trusted and reliable source of information.

Developed by the UBC Department of Political Science, the UBC Micro-certificate in Opinion Polling: Methods & Practice is a part-time online program that explores the fundamentals of public opinion survey research. The program is highly practical and experiential, equipping learners with the skills necessary to produce accurate polling results that truly reflect public opinion. Tailor learning to suit your interests, including a capstone survey research project on a topic of your choice. Benefit from the guidance of instructors with expertise in empirical research, data science and polling techniques and emerge with relevant, in-demand skills with wide application.
